For medical diagnostics, for ‘lab-on-a-chip’ for combinatorial science (drug discovery, DNA profiling) it’s important to have precise micro-structures that can direct fluids to the right place at the right time.
MacDermid Autotype has proven expertise in creating such micro-fluidic channels.
The structures we create are, of course, accurate replicas of the master structure and we can create literally millions of them in continuous production.
But you need more than a structure. You need the right surface properties (e.g. hydrophilic or hydrophic) and we can build those in to the structure through our chemical formulation expertise. You might also need resistance to solvents or chemicals; we can provide that as well. And we can also help with the problems of providing lids or other functionality to the overall structure.
