 There is an increasing demand in the market for custom decoration of mobile phone housings, making the use of In Mold Decoration (IMD) most attractive. The parts are complex, due to the need to provide apertures for keypads and display lenses combined with the need to provide a hard scratch resistant surface.
Autoflex HiForm and Autoflex XtraForm are designed specifically for In Mold Decoration, with a unique level of formability as well as a durable hardcoated surface. The use of selectively printed Aquatex FPH texturing varnishes can dramatically enhance the appearance of the part. The combination of a gloss hardcoated film, selectively printed with Aquatex FPH raises the possibility for the first time of integrating the lens into the A frame, reducing the component cost.
The use of highly melt resistant UV inks is advisable, making Aquatex SC Sealcoat essential to ensure good adhesion with the moulding resin.
