| INDIRECT Stencil Films |
Autotype Indirect Films
Indirect films offer many benefits to the user, as quite simply they are the fastest and easiest method of producing a high quality stencil for short run screen printing. Indirect films are therefore especially suited for short run small format applications where quality is of paramount importance.
Indirect films are usually categorised by their resolution, i.e. the ability to resolve fine detail. Resolution should not be confused with definition, which is the ability to print a straight line. All gelatine indirect films have very high print definition but can be differentiated by their resolution capabilities. A high resolution product such as Alphastar will resolve virtually everything on the positive, including scratches and dust spots which can lead to lengthy spotting out of the stencil. If very high resolution is not required, it is better to select a lower resolution product such as Five Star or even Greenstar. Due to their applications, indirect films are best suited for use on medium to fine mesh counts i.e. 77/cm - 150/cm. Under these conditions, indirect films create the ideal stencil for high quality printing - a low stencil profile coupled with a very flat stencil surface (low Rz value).
Key qualities of indirect films:
Very fast processing
High quality printing
Short run lengths only - up to 2,000 impressions only
Solvent and UV ink resistant only
